Upcoming Trips

Keep checking back for future trips! They will be listed here.

Whitewater

During the summer, there are several river trips that the club goes on. Some are part of rendez-vous put on by the local clubs, and others are geared towards beginners or kids.

There is a trip for everyone!

The majority of trips go out to the Brierlies rapid out by Rocky Mountain house, since it is the closest river and provides a great variety of features for the beginner to the advanced paddler. Some of rivers that have been paddled in the past are the Red Deer, Sulphur, Whirlpool, Kananaskis, Old Man, Castle, Brazeau and the lower Maligne to name a few. Not all are done in one year through organised club trips, but are certainly great rivers to paddle. The Pembina river just west of Edmonton is used as the introduction to moving water for people coming out of the winter pool sessions. It allows for people to get the feel for eddy lines and moving water. Hope to see you out on river next summer!

Be sure to check back regularly for announcements on upcoming trips.

Sea Kayaking & Touring

EWP is also involved in touring. What is meant by this is a range of day trips in sea kayaks, though due our inland location not on the sea.

Day trips are made on nearby lakes such as Wabamum and Islet lake, as well as trips on the North Saskatchewan from Devon to Edmonton. These are leisurely paddles to enjoy nature and wildlife, as places such as Islet lake are excellent for bird-watching.

EWP has a range of sea kayaks, both singles and doubles, as well as several smaller models for children and women. EWP also teaches Sea kayak lessons, which are a great opportunity to sharpen the skills for a trip on the coast.

Be sure to check back regularly for announcements on upcoming trips.

Youth Lessons

EWP offers classes to kids as young as 6 years old and emphasizes a fun learning environment in order to develop basic kayaking skills. Older youth are transitioned into our youth program (or start there) and are exposed to all aspects of the sport, including whitewater, rolling basics and canoe/kayak polo. There are many opportunities to get folded into the main EWP training group that practices in an adjacent pool at the same time when they aren’t participating and helping with lessons themselves. Click the button below to inquire further about our youth programs.
