Pembina River Trip #2 – Novice
Events
August 18, 2018
Join us on this beginner trip to the Pembina. All participants must have completed a basic introductory kayaking course.
One day only, we’ll be making two trips down the river. The first one departs from the Day use area. It will involve getting used to the current, eddy turns, ferrying and river basics on this gentle section of river. The second trip will be decided on the day, either an upper section of the Pembina or a trip down the Lobstick river. We will be back at the vehicles between runs so bring a lunch and something hot to drink.
These trips are lead by experienced trip leaders and are a great introduction to river tripping. All gear will be provided (kayak, paddle, spray deck, pfd, (paddling jacket if you do not have one), helmet. You might want water socks (something for your feet without a thick sole). You will want to wear a shirt under the paddling jacket (something that stays warm when wet – not cotton or nylon). A bathing suit and if you get cold easily, you might want a short sleeved wet suit and/or neoprene shorts to keep the legs warm.
