Youth Beginner Intro to Kayaking

11 years old+

A course that introduces youth to the fun, energetic world of kayaking. In the safe friendly environment, the basics of kayaking will be taught. This course gives the foundation to become a river paddler, canoe polo player and/or Summer Games competitor.

Where: Kinsmen
When: Sundays 6:30PM to 8:00 PM.
What: 4 weeks in duration, exposing the participants to all the basic skills required for whitewater kayaking and canoe polo.

Kids in Kayak

6 – 10 years old

A progressive and fun approach to introduce young kids to the sport of kayaking.

The emphasis is on having fun while learning some basic skills, but above all the sessions focus on having fun.

Each cycle is 4 weeks long and goes from 6:30pm to 7:30pm on Sunday nights in the Kinsmen Aquatic Centre West warmup pool.

The instructors may divide the group if the registration numbers warrant.

Intermediate Youth/Alberta Summer Games Training

11 years old+

This course teaches advanced strokes for slalom, canoe polo, games and general kayak practice. This is aimed at those that already know the basic kayak strokes and want to improve their technique. The next Summer Games will be held in Lethbridge in 2020 (dates TBA). There will be an additional pre-camp announced at a later date (extra cost applies). Check this out for more information.

This group will practice together Sunday nights for our entire Winter and Spring pool schedule, starting January 6, 2019.

Includes: Pembina river trip (TBA), Wavepool (TBA)
Time: 7:00pm to 8:30pm

Youth/Student Drop In Sessions

Starting October 21, 2018, young paddlers who do not want to enrol in a course can still drop in to paddle on Thursday nights (9:00-10:00pm).

EWP membership is required to paddle and to use the club equipment.

Cost:

  • $10 per 2 hour session
  • $60 for 8 sessions

Payment for sessions must be made before getting on the water. Usage is tracked through our online system every evening.


Youth/Student Drop In Sessions (Advanced Polo)

Also starting October 21, 2018, youth paddlers with substantial polo experience can play polo on Thursday nights (9:30-11:00pm) and Sunday nights (7:00pm-9:00pm) with the adult advanced polo group. There is extra cost to joining this group compared to the general youth drop-in rate.

EWP membership is required to paddle and to use the club equipment.

Earn a discount when packages of 8 sessions are purchased.

Cost:

  • $15 per 2 hour session
  • $80 for 8 sessions

Payment for sessions must be made before getting on the water. Usage is tracked through our online system every evening.

Canoe Kayak Polo

EWP provides the opportunity to get involved in the exciting team sport known as Canoe (Kayak) Polo at any age and competition level. Members can transition to polo from our various lessons, and the club hosts several opportunities to drop in and play or participate in tournaments throughout the year.
